Contest Theme: The Heart of a Homeschooler
Here are some ideas to get you thinking. What do you love most about being homeschooled? Think about your best homeschool day and what it looked like? Have you gone on an amazing Missouri field trip? What about your favorite place in the house or backyard to read or do your work?
Contest Rules:
*Submission Dates: January 1-February 15, 2023; Due no later than February 15, 2023, 11:59 pm. No entry fees, all submissions are free.
*Contest open to ALL currently homeschooled students and must be a Missouri resident. The student’s family does NOT have to be an FHE member to participate. Students enrolled through the public school virtual or at home private school programs are not eligible.
*Age Groups as of January 1, 2023 (no exceptions):
* 5-8 year old
* 9-12 year old
*13-18 year old (student must still be in high school and has not graduated yet)
*Email all submissions to [email protected] and should include the child’s first name, age, birthdate, and county. Also include the title of the entry if available. All entries must be attached to the email as a .jpg OR .png. FHE will acknowledge receipt of your submission, so if you do not receive a return email, please let us know.
*Each child may submit one entry based on their age as of January 1, 2023; Only winning child’s first name, age, and county will be announced and published to maintain privacy.
*All submissions should be appropriate for all ages to view and fit the theme of the contest. FHE reserves the right to reject entries that are violent, political in nature, sexually suggestive, vulgar, or otherwise explicitly offensive. Winning submissions will be posted on our FHE website and Facebook pages.
*Winners will be announced at our FHE Homeschool Day, March 7, 2023.
*Attendance at Homeschool Day on March 7 in the Capitol Rotunda is required to receive your award.

*Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each age category:
First Place (one per age category) = $50.00
Second Place (one per age category) = $25.00
Third Place (one per age category) = $10.00
Artwork/Photography:
Your drawing or photograph needs to be an original work by the student and pertain to the overall theme. Coloring medium (pencil, colored pencil, watercolor, acrylic, etc.) is your choice. Photo can be in color or Black and White from a digital camera or a phone. Only one submission of your choice per student. Use your creativity and imagination to help wish FHE a 40th birthday!
Specific to Photography:
*Each entry should not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, contract rights, or any other intellectual property rights of any third party of entity, or violate any person’s rights of privacy or publicity. By your submission, you confirm that each person depicted in the entry has granted permission to be portrayed as shown.
Judging of Entries:
*Pieces will be judged on originality, artistry, and adherence to the themes described above.
*The FHE board will judge all entries and decisions are final.
*Interpretations of the guidelines are at the sole discretion of FHE.
*FHE reserves the right to reproduce the images at its discretion. Full credit will always be given to the student.
